TASK FORCE REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO ENFORCE TRAFFIC LAWS

The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi has reiterated the Agency’s commitment to the enforcement of the Road Traffic Laws 2012 on motorcycle operators plying restricted routes across the State.

SP Egbeyemi stated this while reacting to an incident around Mile 2 area where a sister Agency aided miscreants and hoodlums to attack and remove 4 out of 20 impounded motorcycles from its truck while conveying them from Apapa to Taskforce crush yard.

SP Egbeyemi explained that the truck conveying these 20 impounded motorcycles was blocked by vehicles around Mile 2 area and miscreants and hoodlums were allowed to remove 4 out of these 20 impounded motorcycles.

According to Egbeyemi “There must be a synergy between all security agencies of government in order to collectively fight the menace of these motorcycle operators on all restricted routes across the State”.

He confirmed that Nigeria Police Divisions in Lagos have been collaborating with the Agency by impounding motorcycle operators plying restricted routes around their respective areas.

Meanwhile, security operatives of the Agency have raided 2nd Rainbow area along Mile 2 including Festac Town and impounded163 motorcycles with 29 riders arrested.

Speaking on the operation, Egbeyemi disclosed that there were series of complaints from members of the public on criminal activities perpetrated by some of these motorcycle operators, such as snatching of bags, phones, wallets and jewelry in the area at night.

He, therefore, advised members of the public to desist from patronising commercial motorcycle operators on restricted routes as anyone arrested will be prosecuted in accordance with the Law.
